Wall-E Electronic Truck Play Set Review

Here's the thing. It's big, and looks great but there are a few details to know before you buy. First, in order to make it look like the package, it requires somehting like 32 decals to be carefully applied- many like making a model airplane. Definitely not for the kid to do, and requires a lot of patience for the adult. In some ways it's a really cool toy, but in others it's just like a big sci-fi Tonka truck. And despite all the decal detailing, it's missing the biggest draw of Wall-E's house/truck: all the cool junk he had. Instead, you have all these decals inside that sort of simulate all his stuff, but really, it doesn't give you much to actually look at, and kids don't get that aspect at all. My son loves Wall-E like nothing else and was initially excited about it, but I noticed didn't really get what to do with the interior all that much.
So I ended up going out and buying a bag full of doll-house miniature items and glued them all into the inside of the truck, just like in the movie. I also added a new floor texture like the metal of the movie. Well, guess what? Now he uses it all the time, because it looks and feels like the real thing. Problem is, it cost almost as much as the whole truck to buy all that fake "trash" and plus you have to be somewhat arts and crafts oriented (I have design degree) to really do all that. I made sure to glue it securely so littler kids wouldn't be eating anything. So it's mixed bag for the money. A lot of potential, but I think they stopped short of realizing it.

Wall-E Electronic Truck Play Set Overview

Tracks and wheels roll Wall-E's truck for play on the go. The truck recognizes Wall-E, Eve and Mo figures and reacts with voice and sound effects. The roof opens to reveal Wall-E's home playset, wheels move out and the tracks move up so truck rests flat. Truck measures approximately 13" long. Requires 3 "AA" batteries, not included.
