Pink Riding Academy Deluxe Playset 1:32 Scale Classic Funtime Horse Stable Review

We were very nicely surprised by the size, detail and substance of the Riding Academy when it arrived! My 5yo son had saved his allowance to buy a horse and trailer set. After going through most of the options on Amazon, he had his heart set on this one.
It was very had to tell the size and quality from the photo, so I spent a lot of time preparing him for a set that was more like Breyer's Mini Whinnies-sized. Instead, the set arrives and it is substantially larger than I expected. Nice! It's big enough that he can fit almost all of his different toy horses in the trailer, other than his classic-sized Breyer models. The horses in the set are bigger than Breyer Stablemates but smaller than the horses and trailer from his Dora the Explorer set. Some of the pieces are a little challenging for my 5yo to put together but not to the point of frustration. The figures and accessories have a lot of painted details that similar types of sets don't have.
My 7yo son who doesn't like anything pink or "girl" spent over 3 hours playing with his younger brother and this set the day it arrived. That says a lot. In fact, I'm seriously thinking about ordering other sets from this company for my other son and his cousins. There are so many components and accessories to the set that it gives the kids lots of playing options, as opposed to just a car and a trailer.
Keep in mind that this isn't a super-study Imaginext set. Everything is plastic and there are lots of gates and straps and reins that can snap. It seems as though it will last through reasonable play but not if your kid is the rock 'em sock 'em type. I am very pleased with the overal set and think that it was a great value at about $30 - especially when I saw the prices and reviews for comparable sets.
