Matchbox Convoy DAF XF95 Space Cab - N4503 Review

I actually rate this four and half stars. Of the Matchbox Convoy series this one is a bit of a letdown due to the fact that they went a bit overboard with the red paint. Things like the horns on the top of the truck remain the exact same colour (obviously the whole vehicle was just dipped at once to save money). This isn't unique to the red DAF FX Space Cab, the same thing occurs with the yellow DAF FX Space Cab that comes with Penzoil stickered black trailer. It's a shame because the other trucks in the Convoy series, such as the Tractor Cabs, they've put effort into the paint job with the exhaust pipes and so forth being different colours, as you will find on the real size trucks. Also it's pretty obvious on the vehicle that the black thing on the roof is the base attached to the truck and not a sunroof. Why they didn't paint that red if you're going to paint everything else is a mystery.
The Simpson stickered grey trailer is the exact same trailer all the Convoy trucks that come with a storage trailer (ie not logs or 2 shipping containers on a flat bed or a long petrol tank) come with. The trailer can easily be switched with any of the other trucks' trailers, Matchbox does well to design the tow bar and hole parts of the trucks and trailers to allow this. This means if you want the red vehicle to be towing a black trailer, white, blue or whatever trailer it's simply a matter of switching them. The one it comes with is grey (the most common real life size truck looking to the steel trailers you see everywhere) which is quite a good colour. Like the other Convoy Trucks the stickers peel off the trailer pretty easy so you can add your own more interesting designed stickers. If you're not into that I guess the Simpson sticker is a bit boring compared to others such as Matchbox Convoy MBX Metal Tractor Cab - M9621 which comes with a dinosaur on the sticker.
It's an all right truck if you're going for the whole collection by all means grab it but if you're only buying one I'd go for a more interesting trailer design and better paint job vehicle myself.
